Google Analytics gives you control and a better understanding of your website. Which allows you as a business owner, understand viewers and potential customers on how they view your website.
Understand that Google Analytics is free, but does has to be installed onto your website. After set up, this service can be easily used.
Three main functions.
There are three main tabs within Google Analytics, all serve a different purpose to you. While all bring different data to the table.
You have Reports, Explore, and Advertising. All serving your website in different ways.
Reports
When looking into the reports tab, you find all your data and insights about your customers on your website. It gives you a snapshot (overview) of what is happening on your website.
The snapshot can be customized with data that you want to prioritize. Anything from active and/or new users, Sessions, and views which are some of the common topics that show up here. without writing a 20 page paper about this topic and what goes into reports, just know it is your demographis and charctics of your users.
The time frame can be adjustable as well, it auto sets to 7 days. But can be adjusted to what you want to see. Along with the time frame you can take this time frame and compare to another time frame.
Report section is your go to for bulk data. Where the next section then allows you to break that data down how you would like.
Explore
In the expolroing tab it takes large data and breaks it down for you. You can start a blank graph, free form graph, do funnel expoloration graph, and a path exporlation. Where each graph has a purpose and shows data differently.
Blank Graph
The blank graph is meant for someone that knows what they are looking for but also is most likely going to be joing multiple thoughts into one. Where the other graphs you pick a data set and run with it. Can be very useful but very trickey to do.
Free Form Graph
The free form graph is a graph that sets up a graph for you, but you put any data in it. this graph morphs into what ever it needs to, to make the data make since. Putting your data in here can be very helpful with knowing and gaining insights that you want to see, where the next two graphs show the website usage. Then the above two graphs can show almost any data.
Funnel Exploration
Funnel expolation graph is exatcly what it says. With this graph you choose a time fram, it shows you where the customers start and finish on your website. This helps understand a common point, being where do you gain cutsomers and where do I lose them if they do no make the conversion. The funnel expolration graph is more editable that the next graph (path exploraion), in the sense of you can choose where to start and where to end.
Path Exploration
The path expolration graph is a great way to see how consumers are navigating your website. Which in turns shows you the most starting point and a common stoping point. This can help you understand how your website is being displayed and anaylze how you can better your website for more ease of navigation.
Advertising
Under the advertising section/graphing, you will find that you can connect your Google Ads account and this is very pivotal to website success (if you choose to run ads). This section basically brings both Google products into one in sense of data. You an understand where the ad directs your audience.
If you have set up a key event on your website through Google Analytics, you can also understand when that event happened. Even shows what lead your customer to take that action, that way you can hopefully make more customers take that action.
With Google Ads and key event tracking in this section could make this the most important section. If that is in your goal.
